After graduating from the Theatre School of Amsterdam Jörgen Tjon A Fong approached the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, one of the oldest theatres in the Netherlands, and proposed to direct and produce several programmes and aimed at a new target audience. His company Urban Myth, became the in-house company of the Stadsschouwburg and Tjon A Fong produced and directed theatre plays, organised debates and produced shows where young talent could present themselves. The programmes and performances were and are highly successful, selling out almost every single event. The theatre productions Jörgen directed for Urban Myth were inspired by classical plays, ranging from Greek tragedies to modern writers. Until 2016 Tjon A Fong programmed for the Stadsschouwburg and was asked to develop strategies to reach new target groups for the theater.
Jörgen finished his Masters Study Advanced Theatre Practice at the University of London. He also taught classic focussing on Reality on Stage at Royal Central School of Speech and drama, part of the University of London and at the Drama School department of Academy of Theater and Dance in Amsterdam.
