Michael Schlecht

Michael Schlecht (*1980) studied theatre directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Ulm (Germany). During his studies he attended for Robert Wilson’s staging of Shakespeare’s Sonnets at the Berliner Ensemble. Subsequently he was engaged as an assistant director at the state theatre in Nürnberg (Germany), where he also directed numerous productions. Since 2012 he works as a freelance director at several theatres across Germany and Austria. In 2013 he was awarded with the jury prize of the young talent competition “Outraged!” in Vienna. In 2015 one of his production was invited to the Kaltstart Pro Festival in Hamburg. In 2017 he he was a panelist at the DANUBE CITIES THEATERS – CHANCE AND FUTURE SYMPOSIUM in Giurgiu / Bucharest (Romania). Most recently he curated an interdisciplinary project called reframe.burg at the Wilhelmsburg Ulm (Germany).
