Tim Behren, living in Cologne is artistic director of Overhead Project, as well as initiator and curator of CircusDanceFestival. Tim Behren studied as an acrobat at Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Brussels from 2006-2009. In 2016 he followed the further education “Dramaturgie Circassienne” at Centre Nationale des Arts du Cirque (CNAC) in Chalons-en-Champagne. Overhad Project was founded by Tim Behren and Florian Patschovsky at the and of their joint studies. The following choreographic works received over ten international awards. Since the foundation of the company in 2008, eleven choreographic works in the freelance scene and four guest-choreographies for citytheatres (Bern, Jena, Heidelberg, Bielefeld) were developed. Tim Behren co-initiated the BUZZ e.V. – network and political organ for contemporary circus in germany. 2015-2020 he co-directed the Ehrenfeldstudios – a rehearsal-, research- and performance space with focus on interdisciplinary works for dance, performance, contemporary circus and media arts. Since 2017 Tim Behren is artistic coach at the choreography Master “Comma” at Rotterdam/Tilburg university and is member of several Jurys. He works as freelance dramaturg for circus productions and artisticially directs CircusDanceFestival since 2019. In the frame of the Festival edition 2021, the symposium “Re-Writing Circus” takes place.
