Nikola Schellmann is a lecturer in Theatre Studies and students advisor at the Department of Film, Theatre, and Empirical Cultural Studies at JGU Mainz. She published Ich sehe was, was du nicht hörst. Zur Produktivität des Abwesenden im (Theater)Raum in 2015.
Main focus of her work is a connection between academic teaching/learning and artistic practice: she has planned several projects and seminars concerning science slams, excursions to festivals or guest performances on campus (cooperation with Foreign Affairs, Ruhrtriennale, Theater der Welt, Theatertreffen).
Nikola curated an evening of three performances at Kunsthalle Mainz in 2016 (in the context of the exhibition Detail ist alles) and has been coordinator and member of the curatorial board of the interdisciplinary exhibition Funkenschläge***Étincelles (July 2016; Institut français/JGU Mainz).
